Straight Curve is a start up company offering a unique movie making experience. Passionate about making short movies, there programme is designed to give students the opportunity to make and own their own short movie without the outlay of equipment and a production team. Each student receives a DVD copy of their movie, they will have networked with film makers of the future and all films will be submitted into a festival.
STRAIGHT CURVE

Straight Curve brings together a team of film school trained students who are knowledgeable in their chosen area of director, producer, editor, cinematographer, writer or actor. The team members will need to be at a stage in their studies where they feel their training is extensive enough for them to be able to direct, produce, edit, film, and act or write a short movie without the help of an onsite teacher.

Straight Curve then may add production assistants to the team who haven't yet started film school. They would be invaluable to the production team and will be able to learn the basics from the inside out. They will not just be there to make the tea and coffee The production assistants will have a opportunity to learn about lighting, sound and camera work.

Once the team is gathered together Straight Curve will provide all the equipment needed such as cameras, lighting and editing facilities using the latest Final Cut Pro. We have production offices based in Beckenham, Kent which is just 14 minutes from London where you will be based for the duration of the programme.

Now the creation and running of the film is handed over to the team who have the freedom to let their creative juices and passion flow

This is their opportunity to gain a real life experience of movie making. You will learn to work as part of a team, to give and receive instruction, to bring your training and ideas into play for real. You will experience the highs and the lows that come hand in hand with movie making, the exhilaration when you get that first shot just so, the feeling you get after that heavy brainstorming session that finally gives you the answer you need, it's a great opportunity to see what really goes on when you make a movie.

The Team leave with a DVD copy of their finished production which they co-own between them and add to their show-reel. Straight Curve will then submit it to festivals on their behalf.

Straight Curve currently have 2 movie making experiences available, the first runs for three weeks and the second runs over the course of three weekends. Straight Curve aims to give everyone the opportunity to join this exciting and fun experience.
